Police in the southeast Iowa town of Bloomfield accuse a man of drugging and abusing a teenage boy. Fifty-four-year-old Ken Turner is charged with multiple counts of third-degree sexual abuse, administering a harmful substance and assault causing injury.

Police say the 17-year-old victim, estranged from his legal guardians, moved into Turner’s home last week. Turner allegedly gave the boy a shot of an unknown substance with a syringe and the teen reported feeling dizzy and sleepy. Police say Turner then performed a sex act, but told the boy “he was in the medical field” and claimed he was doing the boy a favor.

The teen told police, over the next three days, he was struck with a belt and sexually assaulted several times. The victim said he could’ve escaped, but feared Turner would turn him in to his juvenile probation officer.

The teen eventually called a friend, who called police and Turner was arrested. He paid his bond and is out of jail. The teen is now staying at a juvenile facility.
