A website that ranks America’s communities for their “livability” has five Iowa cities on its top 100 list.

Livability.com looked at categories like amenities, economy, education, health care, housing and transportation in cities with 2010 Census populations between 20,000 to 350,000.

Among the Iowa cities, Cedar Rapids ranked the highest on the list at number 29, followed closely by Ames at 31. Iowa City came in 46th, while Des Moines was number 69 and West Des Moines ranked 76th.

Overall, Palo Alto, California was tops, followed by: Boulder, Colorado; Berkeley, California; Durham, North Carolina and Miami Beach, Florida.
