State of Iowa #5 in “where youth rules” ranking

October 21, 2013 By O. Kay Henderson

A website that focuses on financial issues and interest rates ranks Iowa as the fifth best state for a 20-something to choose as their home.

The website www.MoneyRates.com suggests young people should “ignore the cliches” about where to live and make the decision “with an open mind,” considering the likelihood of landing a job and finding a cheap place to live. Iowa earned the number five spot on the www.MoneyRates.com list because Iowa was one of the 10 best states for affordable rental housing and because there are more night spots per capita here than many other states.

North Dakota ranked number one as a hotspot for young adults. South Dakota, Nebraska and Montana also ranked ahead of Iowa.
