Former ISU professor given year of home confinement on child porn charge

October 31, 2013 By Dar Danielson

A former Iowa State University physics and astronomy professor will not have to serve any additional jail time on a child pornography charge. Sixty-nine-year-old Walter Thomas Meyer was sentenced to time served along with one year of home confinement and five years of supervised release for his guilty plea in late July to possession of child pornography.

He will also be required to register as a sex offender. Meyer was in jail for four days after being arrested.  Court information says no additional jail time was ordered because the pornographic images of boys found in Meyer’s possession did not depict sexual assault.
