A Sioux City man who was wanted for first-degree murder has surrendered to authorities. Police say 20-year old Martin Castellanos was taken into custody Thursday afternoon as he was walking on a street. Police Chief Doug Young says a tip first led authorities to the east side of town, where the silver Audi that Castellanos had been driving was found parked.

Castellanos surrendered to police and U.S. Marshals without incident. Young says no weapon was found and the Audi is being checked for evidence. The chief says police received several tips regarding Castellanos and where he might be hiding. “We don’t believe he left town, now,” Young says. “We think he stayed here in Sioux City. Came back and stayed here in Sioux City.”

Castellanos is accused in the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Adrian Rojas Hernandez of Sioux City. Police say Hernandez was shot in the head Sunday morning in Sioux City. His body was driven to South Dakota, dumped into a ditch and set on fire. Police have also charged 22-year-old Ricardo Jaime Vital of Sioux City as an accessory after the fact.

Police say the shooting took place at Vital’s home.
