A Northwood man is under arrest after leading authorities on a two-county chase. Mason City police say they were called shortly before 8:25 Sunday morning to K-Mart on the city’s west side where an employee reported a male had run out of the store with a 32-inch television, put in into the back of a pickup and then fled the area on foot.

The pick-up, driven by 24-year-old Jacob Johnson, then left the scene. The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department says Johnson was northwest of Mason City when he entered an intersection and was struck by another pickup driven by 18-year-old Layne Mosher of Manly. A State Patrol airplane then located Johnson’s vehicle northwest of Mason City and followed it along with other ground units, stopping the vehicle in Worth County about a mile south of the Diamond Jo Casino.

Johnson and two others were taken into custody. Johnson was charged with third-degree theft, two charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia along with several driving violations. 18-year-old Tanner Haugh of Mason City was determined to be the person who fled on foot from K-Mart. He was found at a Mason City home and charged with fourth-degree theft.
