Ames police have released the identity of the man shot dead on the Iowa State University campus after leading police on a chase Monday.  Officers say 19-year-old, Tyler Comstock of Boone was the person shot. Police say officer Adam McPherson fired the shots that killed Comstock.McPherson has been with the department for 8-and-a-half years and is on administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.Police say Comstock stole his father’s truck and trailer around 10 a.m., and when police spotted him, he led them on a chase that ended when he jumped a curb near the Campanile on the ISU campus. Ames Police Commander Geoff Huff says the truck became stuck, but Comstock continued to rev the engine, moving slightly forward and back.

Huff says officer McPherson shot Comstock because he was concerned the truck would take off again and possibly run into students.
