The Iowa basketball team too control down the stretch in an 83-75 win over Nebraska-Omaha in Carver Hawkeye Arena. The Hawkeyes survived a sluggish first half in which they trailed 43-36 at the break and won despite shooting only 37 percent, including three of 13 from three point range.

Iowa coach Fran McCaffery says they shot 37.5 percent for the game and still won. He says they won the game at the free throw line and through rebounding. “It’s wasn’t perfect, but we did what we had to do to win and we move on to prepare for the next game Every game is a snowflake,”  McCaffery says.

He says UNO had something to do with their struggles as he says he tried to tell the team that UNO has a lot of weapons. McCaffery says there are plenty of areas that need work. He says they had 18 turnovers and he thought they were trying to force the ball when they got behind. Aaron White led Iowa with 20 points and 15 rebounds. The Hawks are 2-0 and return to action Thursday against Maryland-Eastern Shore.
