Mayor of Cushing decided by drawing

The new Mayor of Cushing in western Iowa’s Woodbury County was selected today by drawing a name out of a hat. Gary Merkel and Donald Joy Junior each received 22 votes in last Tuesday’s election. Both of their names were placed in a hat at the vote canvass conducted by the Woodbury County Supervisors, and Merkel’s name was draw as the new mayor.
