The Don Bosco football will be looking for a second consecutive berth into the eight-player state championship game today when they face Adair-Casey at the UNI-Dome. The Dons finished as the eight-player runner-up a year ago, and coach Colby Yoder says his team has been motivated by the prospect of getting back to the title game. Yoder says the team knows what a playoff situation is like and they realize they are one game away from getting back to where they were last year.

Adair-Casey is no stranger to the eight-player playoffs. The Bombers have been in the eight-player postseason ten times since the division was established 14 years ago, with four appearances in the championship game. The Bombers feature running back Clayton Plowman, the third-leading rusher in eight-man this season. “Adair-Casey is a very talented team,” Yoder says. He says Plowman is one of several good skill players they have.

Yoder says the key to stopping Adair-Casey will be trying to clog up some of the interior options for the Bomber running attack. He says they have to play “responsibility football” like they have played all year and tackle well.

In last year’s semifinals, the Dons outlasted Murray 78-76. Yoder says he doesn’t expect a game that high-scoring, but you never know. “I hope it doesn’t they are capable of putting up some big points…we’re pretty capable of putting up high points too, but I hope we keep that down to a minimal score,” Yoder says.
