A young Waterloo man was killed in a shooting last night. Waterloo police were called to an apartment complex on the southeastern side of the city around 6:30 last night. When officers arrived, they found 18-year-old Daequan Campbell lying near the complex’s garages, suffering from gunshot wounds to the hip and chest.

Campbell was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. One vehicle had crashed into the garages at the complex. Police believe that was the car that Campbell was driving prior to the shooting. Witnesses told police they heard multiple gun shots coming from two white cars, and also saw several people take off running into the woods behind the complex.

Police searched those nearby woods and parking lot. No arrests have been made as of yet.
