Grinnell College’s Taylor scores over 100 points again

November 18, 2013 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Jack Taylor is at it again for Grinnell College. The junior guard scored 109 points in the Pioneers 173-123 win over Crossroads College. Taylor connected on 24 of 48 from three-point range in posting the third highest scoring game in NCAA history.

One year ago Taylor set an NCAA record with 138 points in a game.

After two games this season, Taylor is averaging 90 points, and says Sunday he felt good. “It was just a blast, I just have the best teammates in the world. I don’t know how many teams in the country would support their teammate the way my team has embraced me and supported me,” Taylor says. “So, I am really thankful for them, because without them, it wouldn’t have been possible.”

Taylor says he was relatively fresh despite scoring 47 points in the opening half. He says he had a pretty good half in the last game, but started cramping up in the second half and was worried he would do that again. But he says that didn’t happen and he got into a rhythm and felt good.

Grinnell hosts Wartburg College on Wednesday.
