The Iowa Department of Public Safety has released the names of the state trooper and man involved in a shooting Sunday. DPS says 27-year-old Michael Lee of Carter Lake was shot by trooper Tim Sieleman.  Trooper Sieleman had tried to stop Lee for driving without license plates in what turned out to be a stolen truck.

Lee took off and led officers on a chase that reached speeds of 100-miles-an-hour. The State Patrol says Lee eventually stopped, and then tried to run over trooper Sieleman when Sieleman approached the vehicle and the trooper fired on Lee. Other officers later rammed Lee’s truck to get it stopped and Lee was hospitalized with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

Trooper Sieleman was not hurt and is on paid administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.
