Dubuque resident helps police catch burglary suspect

December 12, 2013 By Dar Danielson

A Dubuque resident helped police collar a burglary suspect early this morning. Dubuque police were called around two a-m on a report of a burglary in progress. The found tracks in the snow when they got to the home, indicating the suspect had fled.

A man in an apartment building nearby flagged down the officers and said an “unwelcome person” was hiding in the basement of his apartment.  Officers released a police dog into the basement and then arrested 31-year-old Justin Klauer of Dubuque. Klauer was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor wounds, then transferred to the Dubuque County Jail and charged with burglary, attempted burglary, possession of burglar tools and trespassing.
