The DNR reports a Cedar Rapids man was injured Saturday while deer hunting in Marion County. The DNR says 37-year-old Charles  Nolte was hit in the kneecap when his shotgun went off while he was putting his gloves as he prepared to go deer hunting southwest of Melcher-Dallas in Marion County shortly before  one o’clock  Saturday.

Nolte was taken by ambulance to the hospital where he was being treated for non-life threatening injuries. Saturday was the opening day of the second shotgun deer season.
