Newton police say they found what appeared to be pipe bombs after stopping a man near an elementary school Monday.  Police say 51-year-old Arthur Wolcott of Newton was arrested for possession of meth during the traffic stop just before 6 p.m. Monday.

Officers searched his car and found two devices that appeared to be pipe bombs. Police called in the State Fire Marshal’s office to collect the devices. Wolcott was also charged with being a felon in possession of an offensive weapon and unauthorized possession of an offensive weapon.

Police have not made any other comment on the case other than a news release which says they are still investigating.
