Two companies planning expansions in the state were awarded $900,000 in state aid by the Iowa Economic Development Authority Board today.

The IEDA Board approved $825,000 in tax credits for H.J. Heinz, which is planning to expand the company’s operations in Muscatine. The tax credits are contingent on financial assistance from the City of Muscatine and Heinz following through on hiring 106 additional employees.

The Iowa City-based design firm ConnectFive was awarded $75,000 in loans to expand its business into software development. The company plans to move into a larger building in Coralville and create 10 new jobs.
