Thief takes gifts from Des Moines family on Christmas Eve

December 26, 2013 By Matt Kelley

A real-life Grinch wrecked a Des Moines couple’s Christmas. According to a police report, a couple returned from a family gathering on Christmas Eve to find someone had broken into their home. The thief or thieves took $600 worth of Christmas presents, a laptop, an iPad, a gaming system, an electric guitar and more.

Police believe a pry bar was used on the front door of the home, which is located in the 2100 block of High Street in an area just northwest of downtown Des Moines. No arrests have been reported.
