Donations to the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign have come up short in the Davenport area.

The Salvation Army of the Quad Cities says the 2013 campaign is still roughly $80,000 short of its $750,000 goal, so it’s been extended an additional two weeks.

Development director Holly Nomura says the shortage could be due to the six fewer days between Thanksgiving and Christmas, resulting in fewer days for bell ringers.

Nomura estimates that cost $50,000 in lost revenue.

The Salvation Army runs a shelter for homeless families and a meal site in downtown Davenport. It also has also opened a warming center in the downtown building.
