Three northeast  Iowans  have been sentenced to a combined total of 26 years in federal prison for their roles in a methamphetamine manufacturing ring. Forty-two-year-old Chad Root of Waukon pled guilty to conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine and possession of firearms as a felon. Thirty-seven-year-old Enrique Manzo and 31-year-old Jessica Manzo, both from Fredricksburg,  each pled guilty to conspiracy to possess and distribute pseudoephedrine knowing that it would be used to manufacture methamphetamine.

Root admitted he and others agreed to manufacture methamphetamine between April 2012 and April 2013.  While  Enrique and Jessica Manzo each admitted that they obtained pseudoephedrine used to manufacture the meth. Root was sentenced to 141 months in prison,  Enrique Manzo 100 months  and Jessica Manzo 81 months. There is no parole in the federal system.
