Cyclone coach calls for ‘soul searching’ after second straight loss

January 16, 2014 By Todd Kimm

The 13th ranked Iowa State women dropped their second straight home game. The Cyclones made only two of 20 from three point range in a 73-59 loss to West Virginia. Hallie Christopherson led ISU with 21 points.

“I really feel bad for Hallie, the kid player her guts out tonight and got no help whatsoever, which is disappointing,” Iowa State coach Bill Fennelly says. It was the second straight poor shooting performance at home.

Fennelly says it may be one of those weeks where the magic of Hilton didn’t help them shoot. ISU falls to 14-2 overall and 3-2 in the Big 12. The Cyclones visit Kansas State this weekend. “We’ve got some soul searching to do I think individually and collectively as a team,” Fennelly says. “We have some people that need to understand what it means to wear this jersey and do it the right way. That’s my responsibility and we’ve got to get that fixed, and we’ve got to get it fixed quick.”
