Bettendorf woman arrested in daughter’s death

January 21, 2014 By Radio Iowa Contributor

A Bettendorf woman, whose infant daughter died last September after ingesting meth, is now in custody. Twenty-five-year-old Precious Latoya Bailey turned herself in to Davenport police. She is charged with felony child endangerment resulting in death and is in the Scott County Jail.

Police had been looking for Bailey since filing the same charges against 24-year-old Spencer James Smith of Clinton last week. He also is in the Scott County Jail. Thirteen-month-old Marlee Lynn Tracy lived with Bailey. Police say the child showed signs of respiratory distress, but Bailey and Smith deprived her of health care for at least three hours, and the infant died.
