The Iowa Supreme Court has refused to keep former Iowa State University basketball player Bubu Palo from rejoining the team. The university had asked for an immediate stay of a district court judge’s ruling that said Palo should be allowed to play after ISU president Steven Leath had declared Palo ineligible last August.
Palo has been practicing with the team and is expected to suit up for ISU’s Saturday game against Kansas State. Palo was charged with second-degree sexual abuse in May 2012. The charge was later dropped by the Story County Attorney’s office and he was reinstated to the team for the final 17 games of last season. Leath then stepped in and said Palo could no longer play and that decision was upheld by the Board of Regents.
