One person dead in Sioux City shooting

January 27, 2014 By Radio Iowa Contributor

One man was shot to death, another man was injured, on Saturday night in Sioux City in a house that’s now notorious. One man was found with a leg wound on the Perry Creek Trail the Hamilton Boulevard Hy-Vee. A second victim, who had been shot in the chest, was found in the driveway of the home.

Both men were transported to Mercy Medical Center. The names of the victims have not been released. Authorities say this does not appear to be a random incident, however, the motive is still under investigation as officials look for the suspect. Sergeant Dane Wagner says several people were taken to police headquarters for questioning, but no one has been charged.

The house is the same one where 35-year-old Michael Delgado of Sioux City and 35-year-old Yolanda Valdez of Orange City were shot to death in early November. The suspect in that case, Juan Nino-Estrada, is awaiting trial. Police aren’t saying if the two incidents are connected.
