State and local officers investigating death of child in Oskaloosa

January 27, 2014 By Dar Danielson

The Oskaloosa Police Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are investigating  the death of an 18-month-old girl. A news release from the Iowa Department of Public Safety says at approximately 2:11 p.m. Friday, the Oskaloosa Police Department received a 911 call from Apartment 224 at the Southern Hills Apartment Complex located at 18th Avenue East in Oskaloosa.

Officers arriving at the scene found the 18-month-old girl had died. An autopsy was conducted over the weekend by the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny, Iowa, but the result are still pending.

The release says death is being treated as suspicious and since the investigation is continuing, there will be no other information released at this time.
