Mason City woman sentenced in investment fraud case

January 28, 2014 By Dar Danielson

A Mason City woman will spend over five years in prison after admitting to stealing from clients of the financial firm where she had worked. Forty-two-year-old Teresa Dorenkamp pled guilty to one count of wire fraud and one count of aggravated identity theft.

She admitted in her plea that while working for Eagle One Investments she had deposited money from  accounts of clients into her husband’s account. In one case she used a wire transfer to move money from a client’s account into her own bank account and forged the client’s signature to complete the deposit.

Dorenkamp, who also worked at Clear Lake Bank & Trust Co in Mason City, admitted to taking $392,725 from May of 2007 until August of 2011. She was sentenced to 65 months in federal prison and order to pay back the money.
