A Des Moines woman is facing charges for leaving her toddler son in a van, in freezing temperatures, for more than an hour while she went shopping. Police were sent to a Walmart store on Des Moines’ southeast side Saturday afternoon after customers reported a child was alone in an unlocked van in the parking lot.

Officers say Desiree Perry-Temple and her mother left two-year-old Isaiah Perry-Temple in the van while they went inside to shop. The temperature at the time was 22 degrees. Perry-Temple was arrested in the parking lot and charged with child endangerment. Her mother was allowed to drive home with the child.
