Former DPS director Techau confirmed as U.S. Attorney

February 13, 2014 By Dar Danielson

The U.S. Senate has confirmed the former head of the Iowa Department of Public Safety to be the U.S. Attorney for Iowa’s Northern District. Kevin Techau was approved to replace Stephanie Rose as U.S. Attorney. Rose is now the district judge for Iowa’s Southern District.

Techau led the state public safety department under Governor Tom Vilsack from 2002 to 2007. He had been the director of the Department of Inspections and Appeals prior to taking over DPS. The Marion High School graduate has been an attorney with the American Equity Investment Life Insurance Company since leaving DPS.
