New information moves Ames shooting from accident to murder

February 14, 2014 By Matt Kelley

A fatal shooting nearly two months ago in Ames — originally reported as an accident — is now being called a homicide. Thirty-eight-year-old Devlin Lockman died on December 20th from a gunshot wound to the head.

Ames Police say further investigation and new witness information has led to the arrest of a Boone man. Thirty-two-year-old Leigh Lepon is being held in the Story County Jail on a charge of first-degree murder. Police are not discussing a possible motive or the nature of the relationship between Lepon and Lockman.
