Iowa basketball game at Indiana postponed due to falling metal

February 18, 2014 By Dar Danielson

The Iowa Hawkeyes were supposed to return to Big Ten action at Indiana tonight, but the game has been delayed. Indiana Athletic Director Fred Glass says the  game between Iowa and Indiana will be postponed as a result of a piece of metal falling from the ceiling of assembly hall in Bloomington onto seats in the lower bowl of the arena.

The metal facing — that is roughly 8 feet long by 14 inches wide — fell and damaged seats in the northwest corner of the building. Glass says safety is the top priority and university engineers have advised the school to postpone events in Assembly Hall until it can be determined what caused the metal to fall.

Glass says they will reschedule the Iowa game as soon as they can.
