Humboldt man faces several charges after standoff

February 19, 2014 By Radio Iowa Contributor

A hostage situation and standoff in Humboldt ended peacefully late Tuesday afternoon. Humboldt Police and the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department were called to Lomita’s Restaurant where an armed gunman held hostages inside the establishment.

The hostages were quickly released. Negotiations continued with the suspect inside the restaurant. After 90 minutes of negotiations, 34-yearly Adolfo Flores of Humboldt surrendered to authorities. There were no injuries.

Flores is facing two counts of false imprisonment, aggravated domestic assault, going armed with intent, carrying weapons and interference with official acts.  A portion of downtown Humboldt was blocked off by law enforcement during the standoff.
