Man charged with murder in stabbing at Meskwaki Settlement

February 25, 2014 By Dar Danielson

The Iowa DCI says one man has been charged in connection with a fatal stabbing on the Meskwaki Settlement. Police received a 911 call just before five o’clock Monday afternoon about a stabbing at a home in Tama that is on the Meskwaki settlement.

Officers found 17-year-old Severn Daniel Jefferson unresponsive with what appeared to be a stab wound. The DCI says 20-year-old Jonthan Curtis Youngbear was arrested this morning and charged with first-degree murder.

The DCI has not released any other details of what may’ve led to the stabbing. Jefferson’s body has been sent to the state medical examiner for an autopsy.
