Iowa state turns around the result in second game against West Virginia

February 27, 2014 By Todd Kimm

Iowa State picked up win number 22 on the season as they rolled to an 83-66 win over West Virginia in Ames. The Cyclones avenged a 25 point loss to the Mountaineers in their first matchup. “I loved the way we came out of the lockerroom. One of the things I talked to our guys about at shoot around today is that you’d better be ready when you walk in the building tonight, not when you step on the floor, when you walk in the building,” Iowa State coach Fred Hoiberg said.

He said the Cyclones set the tone at the defensive end as West Virginia ia a very good shooting team and you have to be in the right spot or they will make you pay. Georges Niang had 24 points as the Cyclones improve to 10-5 in the Big 12.
