Newell-Fonda downs Bedford 73-37

March 3, 2014 By Dar Danielson

Newell-Fonda pulled out to a 44-13 halftime lead over Bedford and never looked back in a 73-37 win in another class 1A first-round game. “Bedford’s a very good ballclub, we just had some things go early and often for us,” Newel- Fonda coach, Dick Jungers says.

Senior guard Renee Maneman tied  a state tournament record with 13 assists. “She sees the floor so well and she gets the ball where it needs to go, and I can’t say enough about her development over the years, she’s just a phenomenal play,” Jungers says.

Claudi Larson and Hailey Failline led Newell- Fonda with 16 points each and Maneman had 13. Emily Weed led Bedford with 12.  Bedford ends their season at 17-8 and Newell-Fonda advances to the semfinal Wednesday against Colo-Nesco with a 23-2 record.
