A suspect in a murder in Yankton, South Dakota was arrested today after leading authorities on a chase through Sioux City and back into South Dakota. Twenty-eight-year-old Joshua Hudson was spotted driving his green pickup on a westside Sioux City Street. Woodbury County Sheriff’s Deputy, Dustin Degroot, says Hudson was considered “armed and dangerous”  and refused to pull over.

Degroot and Sioux City police pursued Hudson through the northwest portions of the city and into Plymouth County. “Up on the blacktops in Plymouth County, speeds were around 90 to a hundred (miles an hour),” according to Degroot.

The chase sped along Highway 18 back into South Dakota where Hudson was eventually stopped as officer put out stop sticks. “He avoided the stop sticks driving in the ditch on the north side of the road and spun across the road and ended up in the south ditch,” Degroot says. Hudson was taken to the Union County Jail in Elk Point, South Dakota.

Yankton police are not releasing other details about the killing, including the victim’s identity.
