Dunkerton overcomes upset bid in 1A quarterfinal

March 11, 2014 By Todd Kimm

Fifth ranked Dunkerton pulled away from upset minded East Mills in the second half by shooting 63 percent in a 50-38 victory in a class 1A quarterfinal round game.

Dunkerton coach Brian Brungard told his team they had to work harder in the second half. “We gave up 15 offensive boards, that’s usually not what we do,  but the second half we talked about at halftime just coming out and playing our ball, playing confident. We were a little bit nervous out there in the first half. We did a much better job in the second half, ” Brungard says.

Kory Kuenstling had 13 points and eight rebounds for Dunkerton. East Mills struggled on offense and shot just 27 percent for the game.  Keegan Wederquist had 13 points and 12 rebounds to pace East Mills.
