UNI considering postseason basketball options

March 11, 2014 By Radio Iowa Contributor

A decision could come sometime today whether the University of Northern Iowa men’s basketball team will play on in the postseason. The Panthers’ hopes to make the NCAA Tournament or even the NIT were quickly dashed on Friday after a first round loss in the Missouri Valley Conference tournament.

Head coach Ben Jacobson confirmed Monday they’ve been invited to play in either the College Basketball Invitational, or the Collegeinsider.com tournament. However, he wants to meet with his players first before making a decision.

Jacobson says there are many pluses to continuing on in either the CBI or CIT and says he and Athletic Director Troy Dannen will decide sometime today.
