Cyclones a 3 seed, Iowa an 11 in NCAA tourney

March 16, 2014 By Todd Kimm

Iowa State heads to San Antonio for a matchup on Friday against North Carolina Central in the NCAA Tournament. The Cyclones are the third seed in the East Regional after claiming the Big 12 Tournament title over the weekend in Kansas City.

ISU will take on a North Carolina Central team that is 28-5 and won the Mid Eastern Athletic Conference regular season and tournament title.

Iowa is a number 11 seed in the Midwest Region and will play Tennessee in a play-in game  in Dayton, Ohio. The winner of that game travels to Raleigh, North Carolina, for its second and third round matchups. Iowa’s appearance is the 23rd in school history and its first since 2006. The Hawkeyes have a 27-24 record in NCAA tournament games as well as three Final Four appearances.
