It was a memorable season for the Iowa State basketball team which lost to U-Conn. in the East Regional semifinals on Friday night. The Cyclones finish the season with a 28-8 record, won the Big-12 Tournament championship and spent part of the season ranked in the nation’s top ten.

“I couldn’t be more proud of these seniors and they way that they went out and what they did for the program,” Coach Fred Hoiberg says. He says from getting off to the best start in school history at 14-0, and ending up with a trip to the Sweet 16, he couldn’t be more proud of the team and the seniors who led it.

Ejim was the Big-12 player of the year and in his one and only season with the Cyclones point guard DeAndtre Kane averaged better than 17 points per game. He says playing in the Big 12 helped them advance as far as they did in the tournament.

It was the Cyclone’s fourth trip to the “Sweet 16” in program history.
