Iowa officials have moved back the start of a Big Ten baseball series between the Hawkeyes and Indiana. The Hawks and Hoosiers will open on Saturday and also play single games on Sunday and Monday. “It’s already looking like a pretty bad day temperature and wind wise,” Iowa coach Rick Heller. He says they felt they would get better weather days by moving things back.

Friday’s forecast for Iowa City calls for wind chills in the 20s. He says that would have impacted the crowd and he says with some of the early success they can have a good crowd with good weather.

Iowa hosts an Indiana team that is 5-1 in the Big Ten and a year ago became the first Big Ten team since 1984 to play in the College World Series. He says it’s scary that most of those guys are back and that makes them one of the best hitting teams in the league.

Iowa is 16-9 overall and is 3-3 against a tough early Big Ten slate. “We were forced to play three of the top teams in the league right off the bat, so it has definitely been a big issue for us,” Heller says.
