AIB baseball program jumps out quickly in first year

April 7, 2014 By Todd Kimm

The AIB College of Business baseball program is trying to win a conference title in its first season of play. The Eagles are 9-3 and currently sit at the top of the Midwest College Conference standings. Coach Chad Harris scoured the country looking for players who wanted to be part of something new at the Des Moines school. “From the very beginning recruiting these guys I told them we are going to try and put a product on the field that’s going to compete immediately. And it’s going to take a buy in on their part,” Harris says. He says he’s proud of the way the players have responded to that coming in.

Harris says he told the players they would not use the start up as an excuse, and the players have done a great job of responding and working. The Eagles host pre-season favorite Grand View for a doubleheader on Tuesday. The Vikings are second in the league race with a record of 7-5.  Harris says he has a lot of respect for the Grand View program and expects it to be a good hard-fought series.

Harris says the players enjoy being part of the title chase. “Every game is tough, this is a very good conference from top to bottom and nothing is going to be given away,” Harris says. He says they realize there’s a lot of hard work ahead.
