UNI coach says some of the loses help him get to 200 wins

April 8, 2014 By Radio Iowa Contributor

UNI softball coach Ryan Jacobs says that reaching the 200 win mark isn’t a big deal. Jacobs picked up that milestone win on Sunday as the Panthers completed a weekend sweep over Indiana State. The coach says he doesn’t spend much time counting up his wins. “It’s not something I really focus on too much,” he says “…I haven’t played in one of those games. It’s been great kids, great people.” He says a lot of players and others have fought hard to turn the program around.

Jacobs says that while he prefers to win, he can think of several games that went the other way that were equally beneficial to the Panther program. “There’s probably a handful, if not a hundred more of those games that we didn’t win that were more character building, that I was more proud of the way they played than some of the wins that we’ve gotten,” Jacobs says. He says he is proud of all the wins, but says a lot of the loses made the wins happen.

Jacobs will go for win 201 tomorrow when the Panthers visit Nebraska.
