Cerro Gordo County authorities are releasing more details about a Rudd woman who was arrested Sunday night on neglect charges. Sheriff Kevin Pals says in a news release that 54-year-old Debra Ihrig was arrested on Sunday evening after allegedly abandoning the residents that she was hired to supervise at Country Meadow Place Assisted Living in Mason City.

Pals says the incident took place on Saturday between the hours of 1:15 A.M. and 6:10 A.M., and she was the only staff on duty during the night. Ihrig has been charged with six counts of neglect or abandonment of a dependent person, and nine counts of wanton neglect of a dependent adult. Pals says the case remains under investigation and more charges are possible.

Neglect or abandonment of a dependent person is a Class C felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison on each charge.
