The former city clerk of Masonville has admitted to stealing from the city. Forty-two-year-old Christine Anne King pled guilty in federal court in Cedar Rapids to one count of mail fraud. King admitted she routinely issued herself fake payroll and expense reimbursement checks while working as city clerk.

King admitted to reporting inflated bank account balances to cover up the more than $30,000 she took from the city between July of 2002 and October of 2011.  She now faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a 250-thousand dollar fine once a sentencing date is set.
