Former Iowa Hawkeye and New York Giant Football player Tyler Sash was arrested Saturday after a brief pursuit in Oskaloosa. Police say Sash fled on his motorized scooter after they attempted to pull him over around 1:27 a.m. During the chase, sash dumped his scooter and fled on foot.

Officers found him hiding behind a tree, however court documents indicate that Sash continued to run from police.  Officers eventually had to taze Sash in order to stop him. After he was tazed, Sash continued to resist arrest. After being taken into custody, Sash admitted to having six drinks within one hour. He declined to take a breath test.

Police charged Sash with public intoxication and interference with official acts. Early Tuesday afternoon, Sash plead not guilty to both charges and asked for a trial  by jury. No trial date has been set. Sash was a member of the Iowa Hawkeyes for three seasons from 2008-2010. He then played for the New York Giants beginning in 2011 until he was cut in August 2013.
