Young boy dies after falling off motorcycle in Johnson County

May 14, 2014 By Matt Kelley

A two-year-old boy has died after falling off a motorcycle in eastern Iowa. The Johnson County Sheriff’s department reports the boy, Abraham Harris, was on a small motorcycle driven by his 11-year-old brother.

The two-year-old boy fell off and hit his head. The incident happened Sunday. The boy died at a hospital on Monday. Johnson County Sheriff Lonny Pulkrabek said the boys’ father was nearby and the incident happened at their home north of Iowa City. The two-year-old who died was not wearing a helmet at the time.

Pulkrabek was told the boys normally wore helmets when they rode the motorcycle. The DHS investigated the incident and Pulkrabek said no charges would be filed.
