Brothers die in accident near Wapello

May 20, 2014 By Matt Kelley

Two brothers from southeast Iowa were killed in single vehicle crash this weekend. The crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. Sunday on a county road east of Wapello.

The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office reports the driver of the vehicle, 52-year-old Ricky Lynn Hartsock or rural Letts, lost control around a turn in the road and entered a ditch. The car hit a dirt pile, became airborne, and landed on its roof. Hartsock, and a passenger in the car — his brother, 53-year-old Randy Wayne Hartsock of rural Columbus Junction — were taken to University of Iowa Hospitals, where both died.
