Heavy rain and strong winds hit parts of Iowa

Severe weather hit parts of central Iowa last night, including heavy rain, strong winds, flash flooding and hail. Maxwell proper and rural Maxwell reported 2.5 to 3 inch rainfalls in a short time. Gravel roads were covered, Highway 210 had water over the road, fields were flooded and ditches were filled, 2 to four inch tree limbs were down in town.

Huxley reported a 70 mph wind gust, Ames reported street flooding and large hail. Other hail reports came out of Melbourne, Mingo, rural Traer, Dysart, Story City, Madrid and Woodward.
