A Cedar Rapids man who walked away from residential facility weeks before he was to be released is going back to prison. Thirty-year-old Brandon Devos was near the end of a 104-month federal prison sentence on drug charges and was sent to a residential facility designed to help him transition back into society.

Devos returned from a job hunt in December of 2013 and tested positive for alcohol. Officials at the facility say he walked away before staff could give him a second alcohol test and was found two days later hiding in Iowa City. Devos was sentenced to 21 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to escape. He will also have to finish the month of time left from his original sentence.
