Brett Moffitt is ready for his chance in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. The 21-year-old native of Grimes will make his series debut at Dover International Speedway this weekend. Moffitt will drive the number 66 Toyota for car owner Jay Robinson. “It’s going to be a big event in my life and a big step in my career,” Moffitt says.

Moffitt has been racing in the NASCAR K@N Pro Series and part time in the Nationwide Series. He says the normal progression is to run trucks or the Nationwide series a year or two before moving up. While he doesn’t have that much experience in truck and Nationwide racing, Moffitt says he has been testing cup cars for Michael Waltrip racing for several years. He believes that testing experience will help him.

Dover is a good place for Moffitt’s Sprint Cup debut. He has two wins at the track in the K@N Series, and says that was part of the reason he was chosen to race in the cup series.
